Pravara Harati is a first-year PhD student at Georgia Tech. Her BS degree is in Industrial Engineering, with a focus in Quality and Statistics and minor in Mathematics from Georgia Tech. She began working for the health analytics team in Fall 2013 as an undergraduate research assistant. Currently, her research spans multiple projects, including estimation and projection of the impact on spatial access of adult primary care under the Affordable Care Act, using 3M Software to assign Clinical Risk Groups to Medicaid patients and assessing how these severity categorizations relate to costs, and estimation of need for preventive pediatric dental care.
Pravara has thus far been compiling data concerning healthcare provider supply and demand across 14 states at the census tract level which will be used to evaluate the accessibility of pediatric primary care. She is also helping build a model that will estimate the supply and demand of primary care physicians over the next ten years.
